Nolan County teams went 3-for-4 in District 13-A, Division II basketball play on Tuesday.
Highland’s teams swept their doubleheader at home vs. Westbrook. However, Roscoe’s teams had to set-tle for a split against Herm-leigh in their twinbill, with the girls getting the win.
Led by a sensational 34-point effort from Sierra Allen, the Highland girls pulled away in the second half to beat Westbrook 56-33 and move to 6-0 in district. Highland led just 28-24 at halftime.
Beth Richburg scored 12 points for Highland while Sydny Helbert had four, Madison Moseley and Lora Stewart two and Hannah Allen and Morgan Monroe one each.
Roscoe moved to 4-2 in district and remained in second place after beating Hermleigh 56-38.
Carolina Perez led the way for the Plowgirls with 18 points while Faith Boren had 10, Mirian Solis nine, Eva Aguayo and Torrey Willman seven, Kendall Moses three and Stina Tomlin two.
In District 13-A boys ac-tion, Highland improved its record to 3-1 by defeating Westbrook 55-38, but the Roscoe boys (0-4) stayed winless by losing to Herm-leigh 43-36, leaving Herm-leigh tied with Highland at 3-1. Highland got 16 points from Ethan Wilson and 13 from Ron Covington while Michael Hyde had six, Jacob Richburg and Laramie Thompson five, Brandon Stevens and Kevin Box four and Seth Wood two.
Jesus Leanos scored 11 points for Roscoe, while Dillon Freeman added 10, Shelton Tolliver six, Kevin Lavalais five and Cutter Davila and Luke Rovig two for the Plowboys, who star-ted well by leading 10-8 after one quarter and 22-18 at halftime. However, Hermleigh led 33-30 after three periods.
Roscoe completes the first half of district Friday by going to Westbrook while Highland visits Ira.
