Roscoe, Texas — John Settle Bostick, Sr., age 82 of Roscoe, passed away Jan. 26, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Roscoe with Rev. Adam Davis and Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Round Mountain Cemetery in Fisher County, Texas. McCoy Funeral Home of Roscoe is in charge of arrangements. A visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
John is survived by his daughter, Dianna Heady and husband Richard of Roscoe; son, Mack Bostick and wife Martha of College Station; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Minnie Rose of Sweetwater; niece, Marla Andrews of Sweetwater; and a nephew, Marty Rose of New Braunfels.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva; a son, John Settle Bostick, Jr.; grandson, Jasen Bostick; granddaughter, Colby Duckett Bostick; his sister, Jimmie McCright; and his parents, John T. and Tennie Sally Bostick.
John was born Jan. 2, 1931, in Rotan, Texas. He was a graduate of Rotan High School and married Geneva Watkins June 20, 1948, in Rotan. Then moving to Odessa he worked for B.J. Hughes Company for 31 years. He moved to Roscoe in 1990 and farmed and ranched full time and enjoyed attending cattle sales in the area weekly. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roscoe.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Tony Heady, J.T. Bostick, Ricky Heady, Jennifer Bostick, Kyle Bostick, Cody Bostick, Mackenzie Bostick and Dustin Heady.
Honorary pallbearers will be Derryl Overby, Billy Joe McCombs, Bubba Cleveland, James Ratliff, Tony Ham, Truett Bruns and Tim Tomlin.
