State Fire Marshal Deputy Billy Lang, along with his canine, Lizzie, searched for clues as to what may have started a house fire on Tuesday evening in Roscoe at the home of a Sweetwater police officer.
The fire consumed the home, but the entire family manage to make it out of the house safely. The fire began on the back deck, catching the eaves of the home as it grew larger, eventually engulfing the entire attic and several rooms in the home.
According to Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Gary Armstrong, they received a call about the fire around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
Felix Pantoja, Roscoe Chief of Police, was in charge of the investigation, with the assistance of Sweetwater Fire Marshal Richard Spradlin, according to Armstrong.
Armstrong states that the fire was fully involved when unit arrived at the scene.
Samples were gathered at the scene on Wednesday and sent to the State Fire Marshal’s Forensic Arson Laboratory in Austin.
