On Saturday, members of the Sweetwater Jaycees helped to clean up the home of Sweetwater Police Officer Armando Renteria, his wife, Andrea, a local teacher, and their family. Their house burned in a fire on Tuesday evening. Jaycees loaded items to be taken to the landfill.
A benefit account has been set up at Sweetwater Regional Federal Credit Union, located at 1900 Preston Road in Sweetwater, for the family. The Renterias lost all of their belongings and their home to the fire on the 100 block of Ash Street in Roscoe.
Those wishing to donate cash can donate to SRFCU and also at Roscoe State Bank, both at the Sweetwater and Roscoe locations.
Those wishing to donate other items may take them to the Sweetwater Fire Department, the Sweetwater Police Department or to the building that used to be Misty’s flower shop in Roscoe, across from Roscoe State Bank.
Clothing sizes for the family include size XL and 1X in women’s tops, 16 in women’s pants, size 6.5 and 7 in women’s shoes, size 3 and size 5 in junior pants and medium in junior tops, 31x31 in men’s pants, large men’s tops, size 10 and 10.5 in men’s shoes.
Gift cards and personal hygiene items may also be donated. Everything in the home was a loss, so any type of donation may be made including kitchen items and school supplies.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing, with State Fire Marshals investigating the blaze.
