Sweetwater High School’s baseball and softball teams, who are off to a combined 4-1 start, resume District 4-3A action when they host Monahans today.
The 2-1 Lady Mustangs play at 5 p.m. against Mona-hans (1-2) at Jerry Collins Complex. Meanwhile, the 2-0 Mustang baseball team begins its game at 7 p.m. at Sportsman’s Park (inside Newman Park) against an 0-2 Monahans team.
The Lady Mustangs won 6-5 at Big Spring last Frid-ay to stay in a second-place tie with Snyder, one game behind district-leading Mid-land Greenwood.
The baseball team had less trouble, winning 12-0 at Big Spring, and remained in a tie for first in the district. The only other unbeaten team is Wylie. Snyder and Big Spring are 1-1. Sweet-water is also facing a big game at Wylie on Thursday in Wylie which could decide the outright district leader, depending on the outcome of today’s games.
Meanwhile, a win over Monahans today could pull Sweetwater’s softball team into a two- or three-way tie for the district lead.
