Sweetwater’s softball and baseball teams go to Snyder for key District 4-3A games when they return from a seven-day break today.
The action begins with Sweetwater and Snyder battling for the outright 4-3A lead in the softball race at 5 p.m. Both have 4-1 records and a one-game lead over two teams after the first half of district play. Right behind are Greenwood and Big Spring, each at 3-2. Sweetwater beat Snyder, 11-8, when the teams began district play on March 15 at Sweetwater. The Lady Mus-tangs’ only district loss has been against Greenwood.
The Sweetwater’s baseball team, which is 3-1 in District 4-3A play, is tied for first place with Big Spring and Wylie after losing 14-7 at Wylie in its last outing.
Sweetwater and Snyder will play at 7 p.m. today as they meet for the first time in district.
Snyder, just a game back with a 2-2 district record, might scramble the race even more with a win today. Also on tap in the district is Big Spring going to Wylie as they battle to stay at the top of 4-3A.
Sweetwater had enjoyed a one-game lead over both Big Spring and Wylie before losing March 28 at Wylie.
Since losing to Green-wood, the Lady Mustangs have rebounded to defeat Big Spring, Monahans and Wylie in district play and can take the outright lead if they can keep the streak alive against Snyder.
Both of Sweetwater’s teams will go to Greenwood next Tuesday as their road trip continues, before coming home to face Big Spring a week from today.
