Due to the wet weather conditions in the area, the closure of westbound Interstate 20 did not take place as scheduled this week for the work to be done on the US 84 overpass that is currently under construction. Closure was scheduled to allow crews to pour the deck of the new bridge. Crews cannot pour the bridge deck until conditions are drier. The Texas Department of Transportation is now planning to close the westbound lanes of I-20 the afternoon of Tuesday, July 23 to complete the work and reopen the interstate the afternoon of July 24. The entire project is expected to be completed by early fall.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured to US 84 Business and routed around the overpass before being directed back to westbound I-20. Signs, cones and message boards will be in place to direct drivers.
