ROSCOE — The Roscoe girls got their first win of the season by beating Blackwell, 50-23, on Tuesday.
Kimberly Norris scored 20 points to pace Roscoe (1-1). Sara Kingston and Lynnsi Moses had six, Katie McIntire five, Faith Boren four, Jacinda Morales, Carolina Perez, Kaitlinn Reed and Whitney Williams two and Jacey Tomlin one.
Blackwell (0-3) was led by Jennifer Allen and Amanda Bullard with six while Kaitlyn Gaston had four, Brooklyn Harris three and Jessica Morrow and Reccie Roland two. Also, Bullard pulled down 12 rebounds and Roland seven.
The Highland girls, who started out ranked No. 12 in Class 1A, Division II, may be starting to feel snakebit as they also dropped to 0-3 after losing to Robert Lee 32-31 on Tuesday.
Callie Sandusky had 16 points, Shyan Womack five, Lora Stewart three, Sierra Allen, Kara Hughey and Beth Richburg two and Megan Thompson one. Highland has lost twice by a single point after falling to Sweetwater in its opener.
Highland’s boys lost to Robert Lee 67-20 in their season opener. Josh Andrews had nine points, Ron Covington seven and Landon Rowlett four.
Blackwell’s boys play at Robert Lee’s tournament starting today and the girls are at Priddy’s tournament for the next three days.
Highland’s teams will host Sands on Friday, while the Roscoe girls will play at Cross Plains tomorrow.
The Roscoe boys are ex-pected to tip off their sea-son next Tuesday at home against Colorado City, with a girls game also on tap.
Sweetwater’s girls (1-2) will have a 6:30 p.m. home game on Friday with Class 5A Abilene High while the Sweetwater boys (1-0) travel to Coleman for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff. Both Sweetwater JV teams also play on Friday, and the freshman girls will play at Abilene High’s tour-nament starting today.
