If you're looking for something fun to do in town this Labor Day weekend, the Holy Spirit Parish Festival — better known as the Jamaica — might be the ticket.
The event will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, at 511 W. Alabama in Sweetwater.
Live entertainment will be presented throughout the day with hour-long performances starting at noon with DJ Perez mixing music for the crowd. Grupo Maduro will take the stage from 1:30-2:30 p.m. with Primo Hood following from 2:45-3:45 p.m. From 4-5 p.m. Audio M will entertain the crowd. Team Chip Tae Kwon Do will entertain the audience at 5:45 p.m., with Annaliese Espinoza and Isabella Peña performing from 5:45-6:30 p.m. Anjelique — a local who was recently nominated for Best New Female Artist at the 32nd Annual Tejano Music Awards, will round out the performances from 6:40-8 p.m.
The entire family can have fun as games, food and bingo can be enjoyed. Raffle prizes at the event will consist of gift cards of the winner's choice for $1,000, $800, $600, $400 and $200. There will also be a raffle for a 1986 customized truck.
