Area has 11 chosen for FCA all-star festival

Sweetwater will be well represented this summer at the Big Country Fellowship of Christian Athletes Festival with five athletes and two coaches. Roscoe and Highland will also be represented with a total of four athletes chosen.
The five senior athletes from Sweetwater are Justin Castereno, who will be a member of the Blue football team at the Myrle Greathouse All-Star football game, scheduled June 8 at 7 p.m. at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene; Hannah Mobley, who will be a member of the North volleyball team at the FCA all-star game June 8 beginning at noon at Wylie High School’s gym; Bri Moriel, who was chosen as a member of the North softball team at the FCA all-star game June 7 at Angelo State University; and Cyera Pieper and Kenley Reed, who will lead cheers in Abilene for the festival events.
In addition, Sweetwater has two coaches in charge of teams in Abilene that play June 8. Sweetwater’s head football coach, Ben McGehee, is heading the Blue football team. Morgan Doyle, Sweetwater’s head volleyball coach, is heading the North volleyball team.
Jayden Gonzales of Roscoe and Nolan Montgomery of Highland are also playing for the Blue football team in Abilene. Roscoe’s Jovana Pena and Bonnie Wilkinson are also leading cheers in Abilene.
The festival will have over 260 student athletes and 37 coaches. It begins on May 5 with an all-star induction and awards banquet at the Abilene Civic Center. The athletic events also include women’s and men’s basketball games on June 8 in Brownwood and an FCA baseball game on June 7 at Angelo State University.
