TUSCOLA — After an 0-2-1 record the first two days at Jim Ned’s baseball tournament, Saturday brought a successful end for Sweetwater as the Mustangs edged Coleman 10-8.
Elijah Reyes’ three-run double helped Sweetwater take a 5-2 lead in a 5-run second inning, and the Mustangs never trailed again in picking up just their second victory of the 2019 season.
Andres Neri tripled for the other extra-base hit and Tyler Warner had two RBI. Neri, Mathew Hernandez and Seth Garcia also had RBIs and Reese Palafox and Gavin Reyes scored twice.
Warner had two hits and Palafox, Neri, Hernandez, Reyes, Leo Holsey and Daiman Atkins one.
Sweetwater (2-9-1) plays again Tuesday at Andrews in non-district action.
