Black, Rodriguez win events at track meet

Sweetwater’s Tavis Black and Max Rodriguez were individual winners Saturday at the Possum Kingdom Relays held in Graham.
Black won the girls 100-meter dash with a time of 12.86, was second (25.56) in the 200 and also anchored the Lady Mustangs on their first-place 800 relay that was timed in 1:48.25. Nevaeh Sarabia, Angelica Beltran and Brianna Moriel also ran on the relay.
Rodriguez threw 43-5 to win the boys shot put.
Joshua Camacho placed fourth in the 400 (52.88) and he also ran a leg on the Mustangs’ fourth-place 800 relay (1:35.44). The other relay runners for Sweetwater were Daiman Atkins, Chris Thompson and Andrew Melendez.
Shavie Green placed in two events for the JV girls. She was fourth in the shot put (27-4) and sixth in the 100 dash (14.40).
Sweetwater also competed in the JV boys division. The three boys who placed in individual events were Tony Padilla, fourth in the shot put (33-6 1/2) and fifth in the 100 dash (12.43); Danner Foust, third in the discus (101-0); and Eli Hendrix, fourth in the 110 hurdles (18.45). The 800 relay of Blake Scott, Ayden Rosas, Ethan Cortez and Derek Walker placed fifth with a time of 1:41.11 and the 400 relay made up of Scott, Rosas, Cortez and Padilla was sixth (48.0).
