Blackwell’s girls crack top 10 in new TABC poll

The Blackwell High School girls jumped two spots to No. 10 in Class 1A in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll that was released on Monday.
Blackwell (16-5) rallied past then-No. 23 Robert Lee, 43-40, Friday to remain unbeaten in District 11-1A this season with a 4-0 record. The Lady Hornets are tied for the lead in District 11-1A with Veribest (15-4), which is ranked No. 21 in the TABC poll. Robert Lee (13-4, 2-2) fell out of the poll.
Blackwell began the 2018-19 basketball season ranked No. 14 by the TABC.
The Lady Hornets play their next game at Bronte (1-3, 8-7) today and will entertain Veribest in another 11-1A showdown on Friday.
Other ranked area girls teams in the poll are Hermleigh, which is in 13-1A along with Highland and is ranked No. 11 in Class 1A; and Haskell, which is in 8-2A along with Roscoe and is ranked No. 4 in Class 2A. The Snyder boys are No. 24 in Class 4A.
