Blackwell boys finish 6th in region

SAN ANGELO — The Blackwell boys shot 375 as a team to finish sixth out of 16 teams who competed Tuesday at the Region II-1A golf tournament.
Only the top three teams go to state and Blackwell was 17 shots out of third place. Sterling City and Rankin tied for third but Sterling City took the state berth by winning a one-hole playoff on Wednesday.
The best score for Blackwell was an 86 by Hunter Perry that tied him for 11th place among medalists.
Blade Wood tied for 30th after a 93. Joe Sanchez and Zach Panzer tied for 43rd after shooting 98s, while Anthony Marshall shot 100 to tie for 47th place.
