Blackwell stings Yellowhammers

BLACKWELL — Against Rotan Friday, Blackwell had to spend more than two quarters playing a football game for the first time. But the Hornets are still 4-0 as they defeated the Yellowhammers (3-1), 50-26, in a full four-quarter contest.
Blackwell led all the way, but its lead was just two (22-20) at one point late in the first half. Hunter Clark made it 28-20 by scoring on a 43-yard run with :06 left, and Blackwell slowly pulled away from Rotan in the second half.
Clark rushed for 120 yards on just three carries with two touchdowns. In addition, quarterback Brandon Brinkman ran for 97 yards and a TD, and completed 4-0f-9 passes for 67 yards with a TD to Orrin Simmons, and Cameron Coldiron ran for 72 yards and two TDs. Nathaniel Shipman scored Blackwell’s other TD, also on a run.
On defense, Coldiron had nine tackles and a pick; Devin Clower had nine tackles and a fumble recovery; Junior Guia had 13 tackles; Clark had 10 tackles; Michael Lowry had nine tackles; and Shipman and Kyler Walls each had four tackles. Guia also kicked four PATs.
