Blackwell’s Cambrey Coulter, second from left, and Carola Savino will be in San Angelo today where they will compete as a girls doubles team at the Region II-1A tennis tournament that is being held at Bentwood Country Club. Blackwell coaches Wiley Cummings (left) and Bud Halfmann are pictured with the players after they placed first at the District 14-1A tournament held in Sterling City on April 3. At Sterling City, the Coulter-Savino duo beat Garden City 6-0, 6-0 to reach the semifinals, then beat a team from Bronte 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-0. They played Bronte’s number one team in the finals and won 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 over the defending district champs. The duo also won first place in the Snyder tournament last month and has a season record of 10-0. Both are going to regionals in tennis for the first time.
