Blowout preparation kicks off

Sweetwater High School’s graduation Blowout is an annual event for all high school students. Blowout is held at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex following the graduation ceremonies and is an event full of fun, food and games. Blowout was conceived to provide an alcohol-free alternative to the traditional drinking parties that seem to have become the accepted form of celebration following graduation. Far too often, the future potential of young adult lives and the happiness of special events have been marred by the tragedy of drinking and driving accidents. This event has implemented a chemical-free celebration in our community to prevent such tragedies. This graduation party is a joint school, family, community and business project and would not be possible without the tremendous support of the people of Sweetwater. A major fundraising project of Blowout this year is the Sweetwater shopping spree raffle. Tickets are now being sold for $25 each for a chance to win one of three Sweetwater shopping sprees. Only 600 tickets will be sold. A drawing will be held in May to give away shopping sprees worth $1,500, $1,000 and $500. Tickets are being sold by many SHS parents and at the SHS basketball games. If interested in purchasing a raffle ticket or helping with this event, contact Tammi Stafford at 236-6501 or Tracy Young at 235-4208.
