Lead Staff Reporter

The regular meeting of the Nolan County Commissioner’s Court was held on January 22 at 9:00 a.m., in the County Courthouse, Sweetwater.
The burn ban has been kept on as a result of the recent dry brush and heavy winds.
A burn ban is when exceptional drought conditions exist within the county or fire conditions become very extreme. It is in this condition that any wildfire is predicted to be beyond the control of the initial first responders.
The Nolan County Services Awards were given out by Judge Whitley May. Seven persons were recognized. These were: Bridger Anglin, from Court Collections for 15 Years of Service, Elizabeth Vera from the Extension Office for 10 Years of Service, Stacy Villanueva from the Sheriff’s Department for 10 Years of Service, Lucile Taylor, Sheriff Department, 10 Years of Service, Frank DeLoera, from Precinct 2 for 5 Years of Service, Staci King from the Sheriff’s Department for 5 Years of Service and Chance Benson from the Nolan County Coliseum for 5 Years of Service.
