Chamber awards several citizens of the community


The Nolan County Coliseum was filled with members of the community and local businesses as they came together in celebration of the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet that was held last night at 6:00 p.m.
Four outstanding citizens were honored and recognized for their work in the community and different organizations they participate in.
Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce Leah Andrews, started the banquet with a warm welcome for all guests, followed by the invocation by Richard Fergeson.
Mahaffey Construction was awarded the 2017 “New Business of the Year”, the award was presented by the 2016 winner, U.S. Gypsum.
The 2016 “Outstanding Citizens of the Year”, Becky and Richard Acuna presented the new 2017 Outstanding Young Citizen to Matt McGowen.
The 2016 Outstanding Female Citizen Jimmie Bender, presented the 2017 “Outstanding Female Citizen” Award to Mila Gibson.
The 2016 Outstanding Male Citizen Steve Smith, presented the 2017 “Outstanding Male Citizen” to Arthur Maberry.
For each new recipient there was a short video made by family and friends with encouraging words and congratulations.
Other members were honored and awarded such as the new Chamber of Commerce President, Jimmie Bender.
