A Co-ed Sweetwater Slow Pitch Softball Tournament is slated Saturday, June 29 at the Jerry Collins Complex.
Sweetwater High School softball coach Tim Scherwin said he hopes this will be an annual event to raise money for the softball program at SHS. Scherwin plans a 10-team tournament open to anyone who is 18 or older and it will be double elimination.
The first games June 29 begin at 7 a.m. The cost to enter is $20 per person. Teams may consist of as many players as you like.
All persons should make checks payable to Sweetwater Softball.
All team entries are due by June 24 to Scherwin. Games will be five innings or a one-hour, 30-minute time limit with one team home run allowed. Additional home runs are outs, but teams may also purchase additional home runs for $5 each prior to any games.
Batters start with a 3-2 count with one foul ball allowed before a strikeout. Teams must use an alternating batting order with 10 batters including a DP, and nine on defense.
No bunting or stealing is allowed. Teams will need to provide umpire each for the game following their own.

In addition, a 50-50 Home Run Derby has been planned Sunday, June 30 starting at 3 p.m. at the Jerry Collins Complex.
The cost is $10 to enter. All of the Home Run Derby participants must be present by 2:45 p.m.
Hitters receive 10 outs and will need to provide their own pitcher. If multiple people tie with their total number of home runs, the tiebreaker will be the shortest time to complete their round. Email Scherwin at for more information.
