Comptroller Glenn Hegar Distributes Nearly $712 Million in Monthly Sales Tax Revenue to Local Governments

AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $711.7 million in local sales tax allocations for March, 6.1 percent more than in March 2018. These allocations are based on sales made in January by businesses that report tax monthly.
Local Sales Tax Allocations for March 2019 are as follows:
The cities received $456.9 million 5.9 percent increase from March 2018 and an increase of 4.3 percent year-to-date change.
Transit Systems received $157.2 million, which is a 4.4 percent increase from March 2018 and an increase of 3.0 percent year-to-date change.
Counties received $45.0 million, which is a 7.2 percent increase from March 2018 and an increase of 7.2 percent year-to-date change.
Special Purpose Taxing Districts were allocated $52.6 million, which is a 12.0 percent increase from March 2018 and an increase of 12.0% percent year-to-date change. The total amount allocated was $711.7 million, which is a 6.1 percent increase from March 2018 and an increase of 4.7 percent year-to-date change.
According to the report, Sweetwater received $207,999.48. Last year at this time it was $286,269.83 or a -27.34 percent change. Payment year-to-date is $865,111.30. Prior year-to-date payment at this time was $966,069.75 or a -10.45 percent change.
