DECA is the professional international business organization for high schools. In DECA, students are allowed to assume the role of different business departments. Kara Lehnert and Annisa McCollom work to develop new promotional campaigns for the WASP Museum every year. While doing this, the girls have a 30-page written event to outline their ideas then develop a presentation board and use a flip chart to present to judges.
Lehnert and McCollom have competed at district and state and advanced to international competition two years in a row and are now utilizing their project and using it with the ARC or Air Race Classic that the museum recently hosted.
Both Annisa McCollom and Kara Lehnert have been local chapter officers and Kara Lehnert has recently been elected District 9 president for the upcoming year. This year, the two will also be in charge of our local business sponsorship campaign and encouraging other DECA members to go into our community to thank the businesses for all they do to support and help our DECA chapter with expenses.
