A winter weather advisory was put in place overnight as Sweetwater woke to winter’s deep chill this morning. Despite the forecast for snow flurries, strong winds and freezing rain, the area escaped the brunt of a storm that is giving the rest of the country a winter headache. A large swath of the country is under a winter storm watch, with a system covering much of the East Coast. The storm will bring arctic air from the north to mix with rain in the Midwest, turning the weather into a frozen, snowy mess from New England to the Carolinas.
