The first phase of the facade improvement project has begun. Sweetwater residents may have noticed that 111 East Third Street is getting a new look. A fresh coat of exterior paint has been applied and a new canopy will be installed as well as other improvements.
This is the start of a project that will make the Downtown District, which consists of nine square blocks around the Courthouse more aesthetically pleasing while painting the intrinsic historic aspect of the buildings.
The area, which includes First Street, Pecan Street, Fourth Street and Elm Street will be revitalized in the process.
There have been other improvements made in Sweetwater not associated with this project, such as new lighting for the Courthouse and the Coliseum, but this is the first of the exterior improvements for the Square.
