A grass fire northeast of Abilene and roughly 15 miles west of Albany has consumed 2,500 acres.
As of 8 p.m. Monday night, it was 75 percent contained, the Texas A&M Forest Service said in a social message.
"Forward progression of the wildfire has been stopped," the forest service said.
The blaze started about 11:50 a.m., the forest service said.
An air tanker is being used to dump retardants on the fire north of Hwy 180 and between Leuders and Albany.
Firefighters are attempting to keep it away from nearby wind farms.
