Highland rolls R-Lee to hand Steers 1st loss

HIGHLAND — Highland (4-1) handed Robert Lee its first loss with a 62-14 non-district, mercy-rule win over the Steers in their game on Friday.
Robert Lee is 4-1 as well after its loss to Highland, which raced to a 56-14 halftime lead and ended things with 9:30 left in the third quarter due to the 45-point rule. Jacob Hamilton intercepted a Robert Lee pass and returned it 50 yards for Highland’s clinching score.
Eli Sauer rushed for 185 yards and scored five touchdowns for the Hornets, including a 73-yard kickoff return for Highland’s first TD. Hamilton scored three times, twice on runs, while Richard Fomby kicked four extra points and ran for 101 yards and one score. Sam Spaulding and Nolan Montgomery also came up with interceptions for Highland in Friday’s contest.
Hamilton had four solo tackles and three assists, while Spaulding and Dakota Brown had three solo tackles and two assisted stops.
