Highland sending several to area meet

In addition to hosting the District 13-1A track meet, Highland qualified several of its athletes to compete in Monday’s area track meet at Hamlin.
Highland’s boys qualifiers were Eli Sauer, second in the 100 dash (11.41); Jacob Hamilton, third in the 400 dash (55.44) and fourth in the triple jump (36-8); Hayden Wehba, fourth in the 3200 (12:38.02); Quay Lloyd, first in both the 110 hurdles (17.91) and the pole vault (10-0); Hayden Adams, second in the 110 hurdles (17.96); Crae Chapman, second in the 300 hurdles (45.32) and fourth in the 110 hurdles (18.56); Dakota Bowen, second in the long jump (17-8 1/4); Richard Fomby, second in the high jump (5-4) and fourth in the long jump (16-9); Ethan Peacock, second in the shot put (36-2 1/2); Nolan Montgomery, third in the shot put (35-7 1/2); Dylan Jeffrey, first in the discus (109-9); Sam Spaulding, first in the triple jump (39-3 1/4) and fourth in the discus (98-4 1/2); Ruger Duniven, third in the pole vault (7-6) and fourth in the high jump (5-0); and Dalton McGlothlin, fourth in the pole vault (7-6). Highland also qualified all three relays as the 1600 relay was second (3:54.43), the 800 relay was third (1:41.44) and the 400 relay was fourth (48.22).
Spaulding and Duniven ran on all three relays, Hamilton on the 1600 and 800, Bowen on the 800 and 400, Sauer on the 400 and Chapman on the 1600.
Highland’s girls qualifiers were Colby Robinson, first in the 100 hurdles (18.72), second in the triple jump (27-11) and fourth in the 100 dash (14.38) and 300 hurdles (1:01.78); Zoe Cornett, first in the 400 dash (1:08.40) and second in the 800 run (2:39.75); Maggie Bowen, third in both the 1600 (6:44.25) and 3200 (15:27.67); Presley Montgomery, fourth in the 3200 (16:15.79); Kendra Baucom, third in both the 100 hurdles (20.00) and 300 hurdles (1:01.71); and London Garrett, first in the triple jump (28-4). The 400 relay of Garrett, Gracie Rawlings, Kenady Hall and Heather Monroe was third (1:00.88), as was the 800 relay with the same four runners (2:15.36).
The girls placed second with 111 points and the boys were second with 177.5 points. Also placing for the boys was Kort Sargeant, sixth in the 1600; Dylan Natha, sixth in the 3200; Lloyd, fifth in the 300 hurdles; Chapman, fifth in the high jump; and Garrison Eaker, fifth in the triple jump. Also placing for the girls were Monroe, sixth in the 200 dash; Montgomery, fifth in the 1600; and Bowen, fifth in the discus.
