Kashani is library Artist of the Month

Anis Kashani first started quilting as a hobby for many different events.Kashani still enjoys creating designs for her quilts, but lately she has taken on other mediums to work with. She has experimented with charcoal content for quite some time. She enjoys working on photo portraits of people and pets. She still enjoys working with this media, although just two years ago she taught herself to paint with acrylics, painting portraits and abstracts. Kashani prefers to use acrylic over oil and watercolor. She finds that acrylic dries quicker but still holds a brilliant color with a thick texture. Unlike with oil paints, it tends to take too long to dry.Her first painting with acrylic was of a tree frog in vivid colors. Kashani has such a wide selection of acrylic paintings, ranging from birds on a wire with a vivid blue background, to an abstract that gives the feeling of a blue sky with greens and browns of a warm environment. She even has an abstract that is in a cream soothing color, but then blends into brush streaks below with darker browns and dashes of blue that just set a unique tone to it. Kashani has many other different types of styles as well on display.Kashani has sold some of her paintings, as well as put some of them on consignment in some locations. She is always willing to negotiate price on her acrylic artwork, and still loves to do her charcoal work for others as well.Kashani resides in Sweetwater with her husband and two children. Her daughter is also an avid artist, as well as a photographer/graphic artist. Her son who took a little different route as a mechanical engineer.Kashani's art will be on display at the County-City Library through the month of July. The hours for the library are Monday from 1-6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
