Kerry Baker Announces Run for SISD School Board District 2

Kerry Baker is a candidate for Sweetwater ISD School Board District 2. He was born to James and Wanda Baker and spent most of his life in Sweetwater. He graduated in 1975 from Sweetwater High School. He left Sweetwater after that but returned as soon as he could.
Kerry worked for Sweetwater Fire Department as a firefighter/ paramedic for 21 years and retired in 2006. He currently works as Senior Coordinator for Hendrick Medical Supply here in Sweetwater with 20 years of service there.
Kerry is a member of Broadway Baptist Church where he had served as a Trustee of the church. He had also served in various boards during his time in Sweetwater such as the Sweetwater Federal Credit Union Board, the Sweetwater Firefighters Pension Board, and the Pioneer County Museum Board.
Kerry is married to Jan Baker, daughter of Archie and Mary Carr. Jan is a 1978 graduate of Sweetwater High School. She is a retired teacher and administrator of SISD. They have three children; Jw Baker and his wife, Vonda, Dustin Baker, and Ashley Richard Adames and her husband, Justin. Kerry and Jan have five grandchildren who are the light of their lives; Rachel, Chloe, Cayden, Avery, and Blake.
Kerry is running for school board in order to continue serving our community and he feels an excellent school system is a priority because our students deserve the best. In his current employment he’s learned employee satisfaction is key to positive outcomes, therefore he believes happy employees of our school district will produce happy, productive students. Kerry feels he can help parents and teachers achieve a positive outcome for a well rounded student.
