Klondike ends season for the Highland boys

STERLING CITY — The Highland boys basketball team’s 2018 season ended on Tuesday when the Hornets lost to Klondike by a score of 47-25 in the teams’ Class 1A bi-district playoff.
Highland, which made the playoffs this year as the No. 3 team in District 12-1A, finishes with a 13-13 record while Klondike advances to face Rankin later this week in the area playoff round.
Highland trailed by four, 13-9, after the first quarter but fell behind by 16 (27-11) at halftime after a 14-2 run by Klondike in the second stanza and was unable to recover. Eli Sauer led the Hornets with seven points while Jordan Johns had six, Jacob Hamilton four and Nolan Montgomery and Sam Spaulding two apiece. Highland graduates just two seniors.
