Lady Hornets win meets at Blackwell and Sterling City

The girls track team from Blackwell has added meet titles to its very impressive 2019 season at Blackwell and Sterling City, respectively.
The Lady Hornets will be going into the district meet in Blackwell Tuesday, April 2 with a perfect record of 4-for-4 at their meets as the team began the season with titles at Water Valley and also at Robert Lee.
Blackwell meet girls winners were Darrian Kenney in the triple jump and the 100 hurdles, Cirstyn Gober in the 300 hurdles, Kiley Cummings in the long jump and Jordan Jones in the pole vault. The 400 relay team of Jordan Jones, Madison Solis, Carli Powers and Kenney as well as the Lady Hornets’ 1600 relay team, which was made up of individual runners Gober, Solis, Vickie Davis and Cummings, also both won.
Cummings placed second in the 200 dash and 400 dash while Davis was second in the 800.
Kenney placed second to Gober in the 300 hurdles and Blackwell’s 800 relay that was made up of Gober, Solis, Powers and Davis was also second. Caitlin Lange was third in the long jump and fourth in the 300 hurdles while Kenney was tied for fourth in the high jump, Emilee Sanderson placed fifth in the discus and Jones was sixth in the 100 dash.
Winning at Sterling City were Kenney in the 100 hurdles, Lange in the long jump and Cummings in the triple jump as well as the 1600 relay of Cummings, Davis, Solis and Gober.
Also, Cummings was second in the 400 dash and long jump, Davis was second in the 800, Lange was second in the 100 hurdles, Gober was second in the 300 hurdles, Kenney was second in the high jump and Jones was second in the pole vault, while the other two Blackwell relays were also second. The 400 relay had Kenney, Powers, Solis and Jones as runners while Davis, Powers, Solis and Gober were on the 800 relay for Blackwell.
Cummings was third in the 200 dash while Kenney was third in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the triple jump, Jones was fourth in the 100 dash and Christina Hansen was sixth in the shot put.
Blackwell had 154 points to beat Roby (93) by a 61-point margin at its meet and 159 at Sterling City’s meet to beat Water Valley’s total of 108.
Blackwell boys results for the two meets will be listed at a later date.
