Lady Mustang golfers are in 4th place at district

The No. 1 girls golf team from Sweetwater began play Wednesday at the District 5-4A tourney at Big Spring Country Club.
The Lady Mustangs will be entering the second round to be held Thursday, April 4 in fourth place after a 404 one-day total in the team’s first round. The second round is at San Angelo’s Bentwood Country Club.
Sweetwater was led individually by Katelyn Guzman with a 98, with Alexis Heiskell, Miranda Sloan and Samantha Torres shooting 102. The other team member, Avery Allen, shot 104.
Sweetwater’s No. 2 team is sixth with a 432 total after the first round.
The Lady Mustangs were led by Morgan Pointer who shot 97, the lowest Sweetwater individual score. Also, Rachael Sparks and Victoria Reyna shot 111, Claire Paty 113, Jade Pinkerton 133 and Madison Sosa (medalist player only) finished with a 130 total.
The golf tournament leader is Snyder with a 349 followed by Big Spring (394) and Snyder No. 2 (395).
District 5-4A boys action moves to Sweetwater when its tournament resumes on Monday. The boys end their tournament at Greenwood and the girls end at Snyder.
