Lady Stangs crush B’ridge

BRECKENRIDGE — The Sweetwater girls basketball team, after winning its first two games at home, went on the road for the first time Tuesday and improved to 3-0 this season with a 51-22 victory over Breckenridge.Kendra Crosson had 20 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Lady Mustangs, while Sweetwater’s defense had its best game yet as it held Breckenridge to single digits in all four quarters.Sweetwater — which gets a tough road test this Friday at Class 5A Abilene High — led 13-2, 23-11 and 32-15 at the breaks and outscored Breckenridge 19-7 over the final eight minutes.Kinsey Browning and Candice Hernandez scored seven points, Alicia Finn and Shelby Cason six, Kath-leen Campbell and Hayley Brownlow two and Kelsi Crosson one for Sweetwa-ter. Finn had eight rebounds and Hernandez seven, while both Browning and Suede Shirley had three steals as Sweetwater remained un-beaten under first-year head coach Candice Wyatt.
