Laramie Cash Miles, son of Matt and Annie Miles, submitted an original composition, “Floating the River”, in the Texas Music Teachers Association’s Original Composition Contest. Cash was awarded third place honors in the Grade 5 Solo Contest and will be recognized at the TMTA Convention in June at the Composers Recital. Cash is a student of Noreen Carson. Jayden Rule, son of Loran and Tiffany Rule recently received Honorable Mention honors in the state Original Composition Contest sponsored by Texas Music Teachers Association. He submitted his original composition, “Confused”, in the Grade 6-7 Solo Contest. Jayden is a student of Noreen Carson. According to the TMTA website contest rules, the “TMTA SA Original Composition Contest encourages students to compose their own compositions. With their private teacher’s guidance, students can compose solo (single instrument) or ensemble (two or more instruments) compositions that may be submitted to the state contest for adjudication by highly qualified judges. Compositions may be written for any medium”. Both are students of Noreen Carson.
