Nearly 200 free smoke alarms installed in local homes over the weekend

The Sweetwater Fire Department, Roscoe Fire Department, Red Cross, and the Big Country Medical Reserve Corps teamed up this past weekend and installed nearly 200 smoke alarms in 70 local homes. The team worked all day and still wasn’t able to complete all the installations. More installations are scheduled for this coming up weekend.
“There’s lots of homes that did not have smoke detectors and there’s some that had them but they were outdated so this gave us the opportunity to either replace the old ones that they had with new ones or just get some new ones installed,” said Sweetwater Fireman Richard Acuna.
It’s not too late to get smoke alarms, you can still call the Sweetwater Fire Department or Health Department to get the alarms installed.
