Plowboys are honored in 7-2A

One player is a first team pick and nine are second-team selections for Roscoe on this year’s District 7-2A, Division II all-district football team.
Jose Ortega is a first team selection as a utility player who saw action for the Plowboys at wide receiver, defensive back and linebacker. He was also named to the second team at punter.
The other Roscoe players on the second team include Jayden Gonzales at quarterback, Rey Martinez on the offensive line, Junior Martinez at wide receiver and defensive back, Nick Limones at outside linebacker, Gary Shaw at defensive end, Garrett Bowers on the defensive line, Jacob Rainey at inside linebacker and Barrett Beal at safety. Brandon Lavalais received honorable mention at wide receiver.
Roscoe had nine players on the District 7-2A, D-II academic all-district football team — Beal, Gonzales, Limones, Junior Martinez, Rainey, Tristan Baker, Andrew Deleon, Caleb Gray and Gage Turnbow.
Albany, the district champion as well as a state semifinalist, had the district MVP in Cutter Edgar, offensive MVP in Cameron Dacus, defensive MVP in Ryan Hill, top offensive newcomer in Ben West and top offensive lineman in Payne Hebel.
Hamlin’s Austin Lozano was chosen as top defensive lineman and Cason Allen of Cross Plains was named the top defensive newcomer.
