Plowboys finally win in OT

Roscoe’s basketball teams swept an 8-2A doubleheader Friday for the first time this season, with the girls winning their game at Hawley 44-32 and the boys taking a 55-52 overtime win.
Roscoe’s boys are now 1-4 in district and the girls are now 3-4. The boys were tied 43-43 after regulation, but Roscoe had a 12-9 edge in overtime.
Caleb Gray’s 21 points led the boys, who also got 10 from Jayden Gonzales and nine points from Ryan Highsmith.
The girls, who led 15-6, 20-12 and 34-22 at the breaks, got a team-high 22 points from Bonnie Wilkinson and 17 from Veronica Cuellar vs. Hawley.
Highland’s teams got a split vs. Westbrook, as did Blackwell’s teams against Irion County, in 13-1A and 11-1A basketball action, respectively.
Blackwell’s girls (8-1) still have a narrow led in District 11-1A after their 51-21 win over Irion County.
The Lady Hornets, who are 20-6 for the season, were led by Madison Solis with 13 points and Emilee Sanderson with 10.
Solis also had a team-high four steals and Sanderson had a team-high 10 boards. Darrian Kenney had nine points and nine rebounds for Blackwell. The boys, however, lost their game to Irion County 57-36 to fall to 4-4 in district. The Hornets got 19 points from Michael Lowry in their contest.
In 13-1A, Highland’s boys (2-2) beat Westbrook 39-31 on Friday but the girls (2-5) lost to Westbrook 71-30.
Jordan Johns led the boys with 15 points. The girls got a team-high 11 points from Zoe Cornett.
