Powerful Bearcats shut out Plowboys

ROSCOE — Hawley began its 2018 season by beating Roscoe 49-21 en route to an impressive 10-2 season that included a District 3-2A, Division 1 championship.
Roscoe faced the No. 11-ranked Bearcats again Friday in Roscoe, but the Plowboys were held scoreless as Hawley defeated them 39-0.
Quarterback Junior Martinez had a solid offensive effort for Roscoe in defeat. He hit 18-of-28 passes for 123 yards and also gained 52 yards on 13 runs to lead the Plowboys' ground game. Roscoe spread the wealth among its receivers as Ryan Highsmith finished with four catches for 39 yards; Gunner Helm had three catches for 32 yards; Antonio Aguayo had six catches for 28 yards; Jaythan Coale had three catches for 18 yards; and Vidal Aguayo had two catches for 15 yards.
On defense, Vidal Aguayo had eight tackles to lead the team while Helm had four tackles and two assists; Brayan Medina had four tackles, two for a loss including a sack and two assists; and Highsmith had three tackles, one for a loss, and one pass broken up. The Plowboys will be traveling to Stamford this Friday.
