Representative Stan Lambert of House District 71 hosted a town hall meeting at Argos Brewhouse. Major talking points of the meeting were the Texas Property Tax Reform & Transparency Act, the Compensation Compromise, and the Budget for Texas in the upcoming biennial cycle.
With much highlight, Lambert first discusses the improvements made to public education throughout the State of Texas. This reform is aimed to revitalize the worn-out school finance system by investing roughly $4.5 billion into education reform, and $2 billion in dynamic pay raises statewide. House Bill 3 (HB3) also allocated $200 million to school safety, invested a $2,000 average 13th check for retired teachers and teacher pension, re-funded full-time Pre-K for low-income students and families, reduced STAAR testing burdens, and reformed training for teachers, administrators and faculty in recognition and response to signs of various illness or malfeasance.
