Republican Party of Texas Chairman running for reelection

Staff Writer

On Friday night in his hometown of Amarillo, Chairman Tom Mechler announced he is vigorously running for reelection as Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas (RPT). The election for state party chair will take place at the Republican State Convention May 12-14 in Dallas.
Serving as Chairman of one of the nation's largest Republican parties, Mechler was elected in March 2015 by the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) to fulfill the unexpired term of former Chairman Steve Munisteri.
Chairman Mechler has already reached significant milestones during his tenure as Chairman. Most recently, Chairman Mechler and the RPT assisted in lifting Republican John Lujan to an upset victory in House District 118, a Bexar County District Republicans won for the first time in recent history. In addition, Mechler recently announced his strongest fundraising quarter to date as chairman.
Texas Republicans have a big agenda in 2016, with intentions to elect a Republican to the White House and to continue to win over new voters that have increased the number of Republican elected officials to an all-time high.
