S’water linemen take 3rd at state

ABILENE — Sweetwater came away with a third-place Division II showing on Saturday at the State LineMAN Challenge competition held at Hardin-Simmons University’s Shelton Stadium.
Sweetwater qualified to compete at state with a first-place division finish at a regional LineMAN Challenge that was held May 26 at HSU.
On Saturday, 37 teams in three divisions competed as offensive lineman teams rotated through 10 stations on the main and practice fields at HSU. There were a total of 11 events pitting the best offensive line groups in the state and the day culminated with a tug-of-war competition.
Competing for Sweetwater were Wyatt McCoy, Tayton Burnett, Logan King, Austin Harris, Angel Longoria, Marshall Mills, Ernesto Chavez, Max Rodriguez, Tony Padilla, Justin Castereno and Gavin Reyes.
HSU hosted the event for the fifth straight year.
