Senator Perry Holds Town Hall Meeting with Constituents

State Senator Charles Perry hosted a town hall meeting at Argo’s Brewhouse and Bookseller on Tuesday. Introduced by Ken Becker, Executive Director for SEED/MDD, the event lasted one hour, from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. Perry grew up in Sweetwater and graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1980. Perry represents District 28.
Perry is a life-long West Texan and a practicing CPA from Lubbock. He was elected to the Texas Senate in 2014 after serving two terms in the Texas House of Representatives.
Perry was in town to do a meet and greet with voters and to hear the issues that concern residents of West Texas. The town hall in Sweetwater was the first of six appearances that Perry made on Tuesday.
Perry currently chairs the Senate Committee on Water & Rural Affairs and is Vice-Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee. He also sits on the Senate Committees for Agriculture, Criminal Justice, Finance, and Transportation and he co-chair the State Water Implementation Fund or Texas (SWIFT) Advisory Committee. Gov. Abbott appointed him to the Southwestern States Water Commission and the Western States Water Council.
Outside his work in the Legislature, Senator Perry has served his community as past president of the Lubbock Boys and Girls Club.., American Business Clubs, and Community Partners, and previously served on the board of the National Council on Family Violence and the Women’s Protective Services of Lubbock. He also serves as a deacon at his church, Southcrest Baptist in Lubbock.
