SHS begins spring tennis

Sweetwater High School’s varsity (pictured) and JV tennis teams traveled to Big Spring this past week to begin their spring seasons.
The Mustang varsity team had several standouts.
In boys doubles, Isaiah Pena and Brody Frieda had a second-place finish while the team of Nathan Humphries and Max Berry took third place.
Stephanie Gallardo and Kristina Rando won first place in the girls doubles consolation bracket.
In mixed doubles, Zoe Hunt and Calen Hughes were the runnerups in the consolation bracket.
The JV team’s effort was led by Samantha Magee and Noah Gonzales, which was first in mixed doubles. The team of Michael Malone-Jillian Virgen was fourth.
In girls doubles, Riley Dodd and Maribel Tovar took second place while in JV girls singles, Victoria Pena placed fourth.
