SHS boys 5th at their event

Sweetwater High School’s boys golf team shot 355 to place fifth Wednesday at its invitational tournament held at Sweetwater Country Club.
A final tuneup for the District 5-4A tournament that starts on March 28, the tournament included all five district schools.
Big Spring (329) won the team title while Wylie (330), Brownwood (339) and Snyder (342) also finished ahead of Sweetwater, which tied Wylie No. 2 for fifth place. Sweetwater No. 2 was seventh at 435 and Big Spring No. 2 shot 444.
Ky Hoover paced Sweetwater No. 1 with an 82 for the seventh-best individual score. Completing the No. 1 team were Carson Andrews (89), Noah Martinez (91), Markus Meneses (93) and Harlie Sanders (102).
Sweetwater No. 2 was led by Stephen Turney (91). Kendal Adames shot 101, Mason Wyrosdick 109 and Andrew Ramey 134.
Brownwood’s Jaryn Pruitt (71) was boys low medalist.
The first leg of the 54-hole boys district tournament is in Abilene and will be hosted by Wylie. Sweetwater will return to Sweetwater Country Club to host the last leg of the district boys tournament on April 9.
