SHS golf ready for district

Sweetwater High School’s varsity boys and junior varsity boys and girls got final tuneups for their District 5-4A tournaments by playing this past Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, at golf tournaments hosted by Sweetwater Country Club.
On Tuesday, the JV boys and girls played in a spring invitational tournament in which both teams finished in second place.
The Sweetwater JV boys golf team shot 423 while the JV girls golf team finished with a 440 total.
The JV boys team included Mason Wyrosdick (99), Danner Foust (101), Devon Ford (105), Christian Molina (118) and Jaxon Ashford (134). The JV girls golfers were Morgan Pointer (107), Victoria Reyna (108), Madison Sosa (111), Claire Paty (114) and Jade Pinkerton (116). Playing as a medalist for Sweetwater was Amia Perez (152).
The varsity boys played Wednesday and shot 374 at their tournament to finish fourth. Harlie Sanders was eighth among all medalists after shooting an 86. The rest of the boys golf team consisted of Talon Raley (91), Markus Meneses (96), Chase Soles (101) and Collin Stafford (123). The boys’ first district leg is Monday at Big Spring Country Club.
