SISD Day of Service for the Sweetwater Community Planned

The Sweetwater Independent School District will be participating in a day committed to
serving the needs of the community. This “Day of Service” for SISD will provide our students with the opportunity to give back to the community by participating in various service projects that are designed to make Sweetwater, Texas, a better community. The Day of Service will be held November 21, 2017.
“In SISD, we believe that student service for the community is a vital tool that we can utilize to help our students achieve our district mission of ensuring that all of our students are successful in their learning for life,” said Dr. George McFarland, Superintendent of SISD. “One of the greatest gifts that we as educators can hope to instill in our student body is the willingness to put the needs of others above the needs of self,” he added.
Tuesday, November 21, 2017, is the final day of school prior to the student and staff holiday of Thanksgiving break. In addition, this is an early release day for the district. Because this day is typically not a day for the introduction of new instructional material, SISD wanted to use it for a more meaningful purpose. The Day of Service activity will be held on this half day of school and give us the opportunity to align it within a week that is already geared toward counting blessings. As such, SISD wants to take this opportunity to be a blessing to the community that we call home.
Local businesses that have needs where our students may be able to help and where businesses are willing to collaborate with SISD about organizing groups of students to assist with your needs can fill out a
