Six locals to be in FCA all-star games Saturday

Six just-graduated senior students from Nolan County high schools have been chosen to participate in Fellowship of Christian Athletes games that will be played Saturday, June 2 in Abilene.Taylor Jones and Sam Nemir of Sweetwater and Corey Hatcher of Roscoe will play for the North team at the FCA Myrle Greathouse All-Star Classic football game that kicks off at 7 p.m. at Shotwell Stadium. Roscoe’s Jacinda Morales, meanwhile, has been chosen to play for the North team at the FCA girls basketball game that tips off at noon Saturday at ACU’s Moody Coliseum.Katie McIntire and Lynnsi Moses of Roscoe will be cheerleaders for the North teams in both games that are played Saturday. Approximately 135 athletes and cheerleaders and 16 coaches are involved in the games. All of the participants were also honored at a “Sharing the Victory Banquet” that was held on April 22. Jones was chosen at quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back, while Nemir was chosen at both running back and linebacker and Hatcher was chosen at offensive lineman and defensive tackle for the football game. Brad Schoonmaker of Hawley will coach the North team and Bob Shipley of Brownwood will coach the South team. Morales was chosen as a guard for the basketball game. The North basketball team will be coached by Trent Lankford of Graham, while Will Corley of Eula, formerly of Sweetwater, will coach the South team. Corley will be assisted by another former Sweetwater coach, Jerry McSherry, who is now the coach at Brady.
