SPFA raising money for wild land gear

The Sweetwater Professional Firefighters Association (SPFA) is selling t-shirts to raise money for the purchase of wild land gear for Sweetwater firefighters in the event of more wildfires. Last year, the White Hat Fire in southern Nolan County burned more than 80,000 acres. The equipment the SPFA is looking into purchasing will help immensely if there is a repeat of last summer. The t-shirts can be purchased for $15 and sizes run from adult small to adult 2X, with a limited number of youth sizes available as well. Thursday and Friday, March 8 and 9, the SPFA will be at the entrance of Wal-Mart selling t-shirts as well as raffle tickets for a rifle to be given away at the Rattlesnake Round-Up. T-shirts can also be purchased by contacting Jarrett Knowles, President, at 325-668-5988, Robert Ascencio, Vice President, at 325-725-2624, Clinton McKeehan at 325-660-9065 and James Smith at 325-733-4071.Members of the SPFA will also have a booth at the Rattlesnake Round-Up, selling turkey legs and sausage-on-a-stick. The gun raffle will be held on Sunday, March 11, the last day of the Round-Up.
