MIDDLE SCHOOL7th grade Red 36, Monahans 0Kiante McCoy, Andrew Melendez, Michael Green, Christopher Thompson and Isak Alvarez scored touch-downs as Sweetwater Red stayed unbeaten at 7-0.McCoy (60 yards), Green (85 yards), Thompson (20 yards) and Alvarez (15 yards) all had touchdown runs while Melendez caught a 30-yard scoring pass from Thompson. Also, Green had a pair of PAT runs and Kobe Clark one. Other offensive standouts for Sweetwater Red were Daniel Avila, Jonathan Cas-tillo and Thomas Mesta. Standouts on defense were Green (fumble recovery), Jesus DeLeon (fumble reco-very), McCoy, John Medina, Trenton Hicks, Taylor Tur-ney, Mason Maxwell and Devon Brown.Monahans 34, 7th grade White 0Texas Williams had two good kickoff returns for Sweetwater White in its loss to Monahans, while Kurt Wetzel and Alexander Kittley were also offensive standouts in the game. Also, SMS coordinator Tony Cortez cited Williams, Kittley, Christopher Reed, Rian Hill, Jeremiah DeLeon, Mikwuan Jones and Cesar Castillo on defense.Monahans 34, 8th (combined) 14Sweetwater scored on a 40-yard TD throw from Jordan McGee to Mat-thew Figueroa and Jacoby Hunt’s 5-yard run and PAT. Hunter Mobley and Jeffrey Ausborn were also offensive standouts, and the defensive standouts were Mobley, Hunt, Ausborn, Tate Rai-ney, Elijah Escobedo (fumble recovery), Justin Allen, Robert King, Jacob Greenwood, Jonathan Cas-tor and Junior Lawhon.HIGH SCHOOLMonahans 9th 20, Sweetwater 9th 6Sweetwater’s only score came on Adrian Vizzerra’s 6-yard run in the second quarter. J’Corey Amos (int-erception), Denzell Moore (fumble recovery), Daniel Maldonado, Vizzerra, Bran-son Guelker, Dylan Jimenez and Max Nemir were defen-sive standouts and Michael Lawrence, Isaiah Gonzales, D’Jaman West, Christy Ward, Austin Kamer, Israel Vera, Mark Lawrence and Joe Alaniz were the other offensive standouts.Monahans JV 52, Sweetwater JV 12Sweetwater got a 68-yard kick return by Mike McCoy and a 12-yard Randy Jhun-kin run for its two scores. Mark McCann (two forced fumbles), Deandre Gatson (fumble recovery) and Nick Haley (fumble recovery) were all defensive standouts for Sweetwater.
