Sub-varsity teams get split vs. Snyder

Sweetwater High School’s sub-varsity teams went 2-2 when they played at Snyder on Tuesday, with both girls teams winning.Sweetwater’s JV girls are now 18-0 overall (4-0 district) after winning 41-27.Cierra Knox had 12 points while Abby McPherson ad-ded nine points, Maddie Jones eight, Bianca Castillo and Shaneese Brown four and Gabby Reyes and Mor-gan Whitley two apiece for the Lady Mustangs.Sweetwater’s freshman girls also won, 32-15, as they improved their records to 10-5 overall and 3-1 in district play.Abby Garcia had 11 points to pace Sweetwater and Mogan Rudel tossed in eight, while Marissa Sanchez had six points, Alaina Andrews three and Mickenzie Brownlow and Caroline Guelker two.Sweetwater’s freshman boys were defeated by Snyder 41-37 as their season record fell to 6-2 (0-2 in district play).J’Corey Amos had 13 points to pace the Mustangs while Michael Lawrence had nine, Hardy Escobar seven and Denzell Moore and Trevino four.Sweetwater’s JV boys are still looking for their first win of the season, but they gave Snyder a scare before losing 28-27 on Tuesday. Sweetwater is 0-10 overall and 0-2 in district.Marquees Jenkins had nine points, John Browning and Trey Taylor five, Mike McCoy four and Colton Belew and Joe Ruiz two.
